I saw a house, for sale.

It looked stunning….

But as I went from room to room, I wish it was designed…. better…

But who am I to sa?

So… you judge…

.

Actual example of a $5M house put on the market, vs how it could have been done better. Note the actual house sat on the market 6 months, and sold for 10% less than asking… a 500K loss…. When there should have been a bidding war.. The purpose of this is to beg contractors to not go cheap, do shortcuts, do work suitable for great magazine photos… but not a place to live in. It may be pretty at 4pm, with the light just right, and the room empty for the photo… but the house is actually frustrating to live in. And the longer you live in it, the more you are angry at the shortcuts (poor flow, no place to plug in a lamp, no eclectic sockets,  bath tub in middle of room,  creepy feeling with too many windows etc) used to build the house. Constantly saying….”if only” or “why isn’t there…” instead of finding joy in thrilling spaces, and the cleverness of design, and flexibility…’
